Good day, neighbors! Kathy Mandell here with today's copy of the Myrtle Beach Daily. Today is Saturday, August 28, 2021, and here are the top stories. The owner of two dogs locked in a hot car got a ticket for doing so, Tidelands Health is moving its Murrells Inlet vaccination site, registration is open for the first ever "Cornament" to help local kids for the holidays, MB hospitals are seeing more children with COVID-19, and MB Rep. Russell Fry wants President Biden to cross the aisle and get help from an unlikely source.

Here are the top stories today in Myrtle Beach:
- A 66-year-old woman was issued a citation by Myrtle Beach Police after leaving her two dogs inside a hot car with the windows closed at Best Buy on Oak Forest Lane. The car was found not running, with the windows all the way up. One dog was tethered to the back seat, and the other was on the floor in the front of the vehicle. Police recorded the inside temperature of the car at 107 degrees. (WBTW)
- Tidelands Health's Murrells Inlet vaccination site is relocating to Compass Professional Center on Highway 707 near Salem Road to accommodate increased demand for the COVID-19 shots. The company's three vaccination sites all operate with no appointment necessary. It has added about 100 temporary workers to help administer the shots. (wpde.com)
- Registration is open for the first-ever "Cornament" cornhole tournament to benefit Substitutes For Santa. The event provides Christmas holiday gifts to 120 local kids, and is sponsored by Grand Strand Young Professionals and Aylor Law Offices. The event will happen on October 23rd at Local On The Water. - Myrtle Beach area hospitals are reporting an increase in outpatient COVID-19 cases in children according to Dr. Lucretia Carter of Tidelands Health. She says the kids have not required hospitalization, but lots more children have been infected since school has been back in session. Carter recommends mask wearing to slow down transmission of the virus. (WBTW)
- Representative Russell Fry is suggesting that President Biden appoint former President Donald J. Trump as a special envoy to oversee the U.S. withdrawal from Afghanistan. Fry says the move would be "in a spirit of true bipartisanship" and asked the President to put aside political differences and give bipartisan cooperation a try. (CountOn2.com)
