Before we start, let's check out today's weather:
Breezy in the morning. High: 72 Low: 49.
Here are the top stories in Myrtle Beach today:
- North Myrtle Beach Department of Public Safety and Horry County PD seized drugs, stolen property and weapons from a home in Longs recently in an ongoing investigation. The seizure included several long guns, a crossbow, over $4000 in cash, crack cocaine and more. A man living in the home faces multiple charges. (wpde.com)
- After continued home damages due to flooding, residents in the Bucksport community are seeking answers and help from Horry County officials. The community began having repeated flooding issues after Hurricane Florence in 2018, and some have had to spend thousands in repairs. When a water treatment plant was built near Bucksport Road, the problems escalated. The issues are being looked at by HC Council, and students at several universities are helping come up with ways to remediate flooding issues in the area. (WMBF)
- A motorcycle crash claimed the life of one person in an accident Saturday evening around 8:30 p.m. The 1989 Harley-Davidson crashed on the roadway in Garden City near South Jensen Drive. The driver of the motorcycle was killed. SC Highway Patrol is investigating. (WMBF)
- Kind Keeper Animal Rescue of North Myrtle Beach is in need of a new shelter facility, as the overcrowding of all area shelters has impacted the organization. It has outgrown the current building, and wants to own its own facility. To that end, the organization purchased land near Water Tower Road in Longs and has set up a GoFundMe account. The shelter is asking the public for help raising money. The new facility will have a low-cost veterinary clinic as well as the ability to take in more dogs and cats. (WBTW)
- On Sunday, a group of volunteers worked together with Carolina Wildlife Rehabilitation Center to rescue turtles from a pond being filled in at Deerfield Plantation in Surfside Beach. The ponds in the neighborhood need to be filled with dirt as per a construction development project. Folks brought in nets, kayaks and plastic totes to start rescuing the turtles who live there. Humane traps were also placed around the area. (wpde.com)

About me: The best decision I ever made was relocating to the Myrtle Beach area from New England a few years ago, with my three dogs and three cats. I enjoy dogs, cats, road trips, photography, writing, vegetarian food, live music, bicycling and above all my daily walks on the beaches in and around the Grand Strand.
