Here are the top four stories in Myrtle Beach today:
- Former Horry County deputy, Stephen Flood, has been found guilty on all charges in the Horry County van drowning case. Flood was charged with two counts of reckless homicide and two counts of involuntary manslaughter in the drowning death of two mental health patients in 2018 during Hurricane Florence. The jury returned the verdict in about two hours. Judge William Seales sentenced Flood to 18 years in prison. (wpde.com)
- A Myrtle Beach couple had a scary awakening in the middle of the night when a burglar entered their home while they were asleep. The break-in happened on Snorkel Way between 19th and 20th avenues South in the city. The two residents, both in their 60s, were asleep when someone banged loudly on their door three times and the door flew open. The couple managed to lock themselves into the bathroom and called police. MBPD detained the suspect, and he is being charged with first-degree burglary. (WMBF)
- A motorcyclist died after a late-night crash near North Myrtle Beach. Authorities have not released the name of the person, who was heading south on Highway 57 when they went off the road, hit a ditch, and were thrown from the bike around 1:30 a.m. Thursday. The crash occurred near Old Wampee Road. (WMBF)
- Approximately $10,000 worth of wood was stolen from the construction site where 40 tiny homes are being built for homeless veterans in Myrtle Beach. The executive director of the Veterans Welcome Home Resource Center says that three pallets of construction wood were stolen from the site over the last few days. The wood was donated to the organization for the project. The organization would like whoever took the wood to bring it back. Police are determining the value of the wood as part of their investigation. (WBTW)

About me: The best decision I ever made was relocating to the Myrtle Beach area from New England a few years ago, with my three dogs and three cats. I enjoy dogs, cats, road trips, photography, writing, vegetarian food, live music, bicycling and above all my daily walks on the beaches in and around the Grand Strand.
