🌱 Farrow Parkway Repaving Begins + Market Common Holiday Events
The quickest way to get caught up on the most important things happening today in Myrtle Beach.

Hi y'all! I'm back in your inbox on this Sunday, November 13, 2022 to walk you through everything you need to know about what's happening in Myrtle Beach. Today's issue includes:
- The Farrow Parkway repaving project will begin tonight at 7 p.m.
- Market Common has released its holiday event calendar and there's something for everyone!
- A report on Veterans Day events in and around the Grand Strand.
Today's weather will be noticeably cooler:
Cooler; breezy in the morning. High: 64 Low: 39.
Here are the top three stories today in Myrtle Beach:
- Repaving work begins on Farrow Parkway at Market Common tonight at 7 p.m. The project will take about a month. Work will happen during the overnight hours to avoid too many traffic woes. Milling and repaving of Farrow Parkway from Kings Highway to Fred Nash Boulevard will be the focus of the project. On-street parking is not allowed while the work is taking place. (WBTW)
- Speaking of Market Common, a press release issued this week provided a rundown of all the holiday events happening in Myrtle Beach's "Uptown Downtown." The annual tree lighting will be happening Saturday, November 19 starting at 6 p.m. There will be entertainment by the Long Bay Symphony and an appearance by Santa and Mrs. Claus. Also on November 19 will be the grand opening of NailedIt DIY Studio at 3064 Deville Street starting at 4 p.m. Photos With Santa will begin November 20 on Wednesdays starting at 5 p.m. and will run for a month until December 21. Pet Photos With Santa is happening Sunday, November 27 and Sunday December 11 at 5 p.m. On Black Friday, retailers in MC will be operating from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Of course, the biggie is A Southern Times Square — the New Year's Eve celebration at Market Common. The event is so important, it's going to have its own website that will be revealed on November 15: NYEMarketCommonMB.com. (Market Common Events Calendar)
- Veterans Day Highlights: The Military Appreciation Committee hosted a Veterans Day ceremony in Surfside Beach on Friday at Veterans Memorial Park. The key speaker was 94-year-old Ed Turek who served in World War II, the Korean War and the Vietnam War.(WMBF) Veterans also gathered at Myrtle Beach's Warbird Park to honor fallen soldiers. (WMBF) The Academy for Technology & Academics in Conway held a ceremony and lunch honoring veterans on Friday. (WBTW) At the VFW in Murrells Inlet, guest speaker Elisabeth Litvin, who served in the military for 26 years, spoke about honoring female veterans. (wpde.com) The 22-mile Veterans Victory Walk took place at Market Common for the third year in a row. The walk raises awareness of mental health issues and suicide among veterans. (wpde.com)

Myrtle Beach pic of the day:
Reader Mary Latgis sent in this cool sunrise pic taken at my old stomping grounds, Murrells Inlet! It's a great place to live on the Grand Strand. Thanks for the pretty picture, Mary!

News13 has obtained the list of write-in candidates from Horry County's ballots and some of them are pretty funny. They include Alice Cooper, Dolly Parton, the LIMU Emu, Wile E. Coyote and Tweety Bird, just to name a few! Check out the whole list here: (WBTW)

About me: The best decision I ever made was relocating to the Myrtle Beach area from New England a few years ago, with my three dogs and three cats. I enjoy dogs, cats, road trips, photography, writing, vegetarian food, live music, bicycling and above all my daily walks on the beaches in and around the Grand Strand.
