Here are the top five stories in Myrtle Beach today:
- The wildlife trafficking trial of Doc Antle that was to begin Monday in Virginia has been delayed again. The trial has been rescheduled for June 12, 2023 in Frederick County Circuit Court. Antle, the owner of Myrtle Beach Safari, has been in prison since June when he was arrested by the FBI for money laundering. The Virginia case charges Antle with two felony counts of wildlife trafficking, two felony counts of conspiracy to traffic wildlife, four misdemeanor counts of conspiracy to violate the Endangered Species Act and nine misdemeanor counts of animal cruelty. - Free parking season is here! The city of Myrtle Beach, the town of Surfside Beach and the city of North Myrtle Beach observe no-fee parking in city-run beach parking lots from November 1 through February 28 each year. Check signage at your favorite parking lot just to be sure!(ABC NEWS 4) (Explore North Myrtle Beach) (WBTW)
- After widespread reporting and sharing on social media, the community has come through for Help4Kids. The nonprofit organization received more than 4,000 food item donations due in large part to the efforts of Horry-Georgetown Technical College's donation campaign. Help4Kids had run out of supplies and was unable to deliver food to kids last week. (wpde.com)
- Worried about all that Halloween candy for you or your kids and what it may do to your dental health? Myrtle Beach dentist (and my personal friend!) Dr. Marlene Mendez has some tips on caring for teeth. Hint: it's ok to have candy once in a while and Halloween should be fun! Choose the right kinds of treats and make sure you practice good dental hygiene, says Dr. Mendez. (WBTW)
- Being a dog lover and a history buff, these two local announcements are right up my alley! A new off-leash dog park will be coming to Myrtle Beach soon. The New Town Dog Park will be located at 200 Collins Street near Withers Swash Park. There will be an area for small dogs and separate area for large dogs. (WBTW) Myrtle Beach also has plans for a World War II memorial slated to be located at Warbird Park on Farrow Parkway. Construction is set to begin on the WWII memorial over the winter. (WMBF)

Myrtle Beach pic of the day:
Reader Diana Schriber sent in this super fun photo from last weekend's Jeep Jam in Myrtle Beach. Jeeps were apparently allowed on the sand and lined up between the boardwalk and the pier! Fantastic photo, Diana, thanks so much for sharing!

About me: The best decision I ever made was relocating to the Myrtle Beach area from New England a few years ago, with my three dogs and three cats. I enjoy dogs, cats, road trips, photography, writing, vegetarian food, live music, bicycling and above all my daily walks on the beaches in and around the Grand Strand.
