Graham Tests Positive+MYR Pax Disgusted+Gas Up+Teen Found Safe
Here's the latest edition the Myrtle Beach Daily! This is your go-to for everything going on in and around the Grand Strand.

Hey, neighbors! Kathy Mandell here with your brand-new issue of the Myrtle Beach Daily. Today is Tuesday, August 3, 2021, and here are the news stories I'm sharing with you today: Senator Lindsey Graham announced he has tested positive for COVID-19, an update on that Sunday afternoon police presence in Little River, flight cancellations and delays cause passengers to be stranded at MYR, gas prices continue to climb, Myrtle Beach's 9/11 memorial is ready to move to its new home, and a missing Conway teenager is safe.
Let's take a quick peek at the weather: Rainy and humid throughout the day. Cooling off, with a high of 82 Low: 75.
Here are the top stories today in Myrtle Beach:
- Senator Lindsey Graham says he has tested positive for COVID-19, even after being vaccinated, in a statement he made on Twitter Monday afternoon. Graham indicated that he had flu-like symptoms over the weekend, and visited his doctor Monday morning. He will quarantine for ten days. Graham compared his current symptoms to a sinus infection, and expressed gladness at having been vaccinated. (WBTW)
- One person is in custody, and another person was wounded during a domestic violence situation in Little River on Sunday. A heavy police presence was on-scene at the Summer Chase Apartments off Horseshoe Road. Authorities had asked residents to stay indoors during the active scene. Detectives remained on-site for some time, and the situation remains under investigation. (wpde.com)
- Several flights were cancelled Monday at Myrtle Beach airport, leaving passengers 'disgusted' after being stranded for days. Reportedly, hundreds of people were sleeping on the floor of the airport, and rumors were suggesting airline employees may have been on strike. The airlines issued a statement indicating they had faced some operational and weather challenges. (WBTW)
- Gas prices in Myrtle Beach have increased nearly 10 cents in the past month due to the height of the summer driving season causing high demand. Prices here are still lower than the national average, even though the increase over this time last year is approximately one dollar per gallon. Prices are expected to taper off after school vacation season ends. (WMBF)
- The move is underway for the 9/11 Unity Memorial that is being transferred to Warbird Park on Farrow Parkway in Market Common. Contractors installed a new foundation and moved the granite disc from its original location on 28th Avenue North. The steel beam that was once part of the World Trade Center will be placed on the new location, making it much more visible and accessible to the public in time for the 20th anniversary of September 11th. (WPDE)
- A missing 13-year-old girl from Conway has been returned home safely, according to Conway Police Department. She was located on Sunday evening, and returned to her home. (WMBF)

About me: The best decision I ever made was relocating to the Myrtle Beach area from New England a few years ago, with my three dogs and three cats. I enjoy dogs, cats, road trips, photography, writing, vegetarian food, live music, bicycling and above all my daily walks on the beaches in and around the Grand Strand.
