Let's take a look at Saturday's weather before we start on the top stories:

Windy and cool with rain. High: 55 Low: 52.

Here are the top stories in Myrtle Beach today:

  1. Myrtle Beach Police are investigating a shooting that resulted in one person being injured. The person showed up at an area hospital for treatment of a gunshot wound during the early morning hours of Friday. Later on, officers located a vehicle with gunshot damage near 3rd Avenue North and Cedar Street. MBPD is requesting information at (843) 918-1382 — reference report number 21-020657. (wpde.com)
  2. Country music fans get ready! It was announced on Friday that the one and only Keith Urban will be one of the headline acts at the 2022 Carolina Country Music Fest in Myrtle Beach! The four-time Grammy winner will join Jason Aldean and Luke Bryan on June 9th through 12th. (WBTW)
  3. Road Worriers: Horry County leaders say improvements to, and widening of, Highway 90 could be a decade-long project. Local and state officials addressed concerns from the public this week at a special meeting. Residents spoke up with their concerns about the road's condition and the impact on the community during meetings that took place this summer. A study needs to happen first, and that alone will take several years. Getting design permits will also take a number of years. The county is looking at at least 10 years to get the challenging and pricey project underway. (WPDE)
  4. Ex-Horry County Deputy Coroner, Chris Dontell, who is accused of murder, requested a reconsideration of bond revocation in court this week, but a judge denied that request. The court had already denied revocation of bond for Dontell, who was found to have violated the conditions of his bond last month when it was discovered that he had contact with his co-defendant, Meagan Jackson. (WBTW)
  5. Building renovations in the historic 9th Avenue North downtown district of Myrtle Beach are almost done. Final touches are expected to be completed in December. The construction has been happening for about a year on the historic structures, currently owned by the City of Myrtle Beach. The city will own the buildings for the foreseeable future, and will likely begin leasing them out to business owners after the renovations are complete. (WMBF)

About me: The best decision I ever made was relocating to the Myrtle Beach area from New England a few years ago, with my three dogs and three cats. I enjoy dogs, cats, road trips, photography, writing, vegetarian food, live music, bicycling and above all my daily walks on the beaches in and around the Grand Strand.
