Here are the top five stories today in Myrtle Beach:
- Real estate professionals are reporting that increased interest rates are causing a slow-down of home buying in Horry and Georgetown counties. There was a steep decline in sales last month for resale homes and condos. Local real estate whiz kid, Blake Sloan, says sales have slowed down, but prices are still up compared to last year at this time. (WBTW)
- There is new information on the animal neglect case that caused Horry County Animal Care Center to shut down temporarily a couple weeks ago. Thirty animals were seized from two adjoining properties in Longs. A man was arrested in connection with the case, and another person, wanted for murder, surrendered to police while they were on-site serving a search warrant. (Myhorrynews)
- Doc Antle is facing new charges in Virginia, and his nonprofit organization is disallowed from soliciting donations in South Carolina. Antle was indicted last week on two additional felony charges in Frederick County, VA for illegally selling an endangered species. On Thursday, a judge did not render a decision on Antle's detention at a bond hearing. (wpde.com) (WBTW)
- A man that was accused of stabbing someone who asked him to stop singing in Chapin Park is in the news again. This time, a victim in Plyler Park was hit in the head with a 10-15 pound rock that was about a foot-and-a-half in diameter after the attacker hurled the rock at them. The victim's condition is unknown, and it is not clear if the attacker was arrested. (WBTW )
- As Grand Strand animal shelters reach capacity, the folks at Tidal Creek Brewhouse are hosting a Pints 4 Paws fundraiser to help them out. The event will happen today starting at 2 p.m. at the brewery in Market Common. There will be adoptable pets on site, along with other vendors, live music and food. Proceeds will benefit Kind Keeper Animal Rescue, Grand Strand Humane Society, The Humane Society of North Myrtle Beach and Boxer Rescue. (WMBF)(wpde.com)

About me: The best decision I ever made was relocating to the Myrtle Beach area from New England a few years ago, with my three dogs and three cats. I enjoy dogs, cats, road trips, photography, writing, vegetarian food, live music, bicycling and above all my daily walks on the beaches in and around the Grand Strand.
