Here are the top five stories in Myrtle Beach today:
- Some Horry County leaders are disappointed after the Council voted to move money earmarked for improvements to the Little River boardwalk to a proposed equestrian center in western Horry County. The county had already purchased approximately 500 acres for the equestrian venue, but some, including newly-elected Councilwoman Jenna Dukes, felt that the Little River repairs were more pressing. Dukes says she plans to have Council revisit the issue when she takes office. The Little River improvement project has been on the county's wish list for many years. (Myhorrynews)
- It's a great day for horses! Down on the South Strand, Brookgreen Gardens has added two new horses to the Floyd Family Heritage Farm. The Marsh Tacky Horses are named Tuff and Sparkleberry. Tuff is eleven years old and Sparkleberry is one and a half. The staff at Brookgreen encourages folks to come on by and meet the pair! (wpde.com)
- The Horry County School Board unanimously voted to extend Superintendent Rick Maxey's contract for one year. Maxey did not receive a raise or other compensation increase. His contract will run through June 30, 2026. (Myhorrynews)
- Are you the winner? If you bought a Powerball ticket at Scotchman on Seaboard Street, you may be the lucky shopper who won $50,000! Someone bought a ticket worth $50,000 for Monday's Powerball drawing at Scotchman. Nobody won the big prize on Monday, so tonight's estimated Powerball jackpot is over $76 million. (WMBF) (WBTW)
- The fourth annual Myrtle Beach Invitational is happening tomorrow through November 20 at the HTC Center at Coastal Carolina University. The three-day early season NCAA basketball tournament will be broadcast on ESPN networks. The first afternoon will be Colorado vs. UMass and Murray State against Texas A&M. In all, there will be 12 games broadcast live on ESPN. The Myrtle Beach Bowl in December will also be broadcast on ESPN. (Myrtle Beach Invitational) (WMBF)

About me: The best decision I ever made was relocating to the Myrtle Beach area from New England a few years ago, with my three dogs and three cats. I enjoy dogs, cats, road trips, photography, writing, vegetarian food, live music, bicycling and above all my daily walks on the beaches in and around the Grand Strand.
