Hello Myrtle Beach! Welcome to summer! It's June, and we are more than ready for summer fun. But for now, let's get to today's news.

Good morning, Grand Strand! It's June and we are so ready for summer. In today's news, hurricane season has begun, Mayor Bethune declares June PRIDE month, a happy ending for a missing child and his family, SummerFest returns to Barefoot Landing, and HGTC gets some awards.

  1. The month of June on the Grand Strand equals the start of hurricane season. We are generally lucky that we avoid a direct hit, but you never know. State officials are urging everyone to prepare for storms, get supplies and study evacuation routes and rules. (WMBF)
  2. The City of Myrtle Beach has declared June as PRIDE Month. Mayor Bethune signed a proclamation that will be celebrated on June 17th during the Grand Strand Pride fest in Chapin Park. (WPDE)
  3. A missing Horry County child and his dad were located after they were reported missing on Memorial Day. There was some concern, as the man does not have custody of his son, but both returned safely. (WBTW)
  4. SummerFest returns to Barefoot Landing! After a year without live entertainment, performers return to Barefoot Landing's Dockside Village Amphitheater Stage nightly, starting June 7th! (WPDE)
  5. Horry-Georgetown Technical College surprises its President, Dr. Marilyn Murphy Fore, with the Order of the Palmetto award. The college's Phi Theta Kappa Chapter also won an international award. (Patch)
