Here are the top three stories in Myrtle Beach today:

  1. Myrtle Beach Police are looking for a man who is accused of showing a firearm to loss-prevention personnel during a shoplifting incident at Walmart on Seaboard Street. Before Myrtle Beach police arrived, the man left the scene. The person is seen on surveillance video. Police are asking anyone with info to call them at (843) 918-1382 and reference report number 22-002073. (WBTW) (Facebook)
  2. The department also arrested a Lumberton, North Carolina woman in connection with a shooting that injured one in Myrtle Beach early Sunday morning. The shooting occurred at 3rd Avenue South and South Kings Highway around 2:20 a.m. There was an initial altercation at a hotel, and then the shooting happened when the two met in their vehicles. The injured person was taken to the hospital, and 28-year-old Ciji Marissa Barnes was located and arrested for assault and battery of a high and aggravated nature, and possession of a weapon during a violent crime. (WMBF)
  3. SkyWheel Myrtle Beach hosted Waggin' On The Wheel on Saturday. A whole pack of brave dogs got to ride on the SkyWheel (with their humans) for a good cause. All donations went to Grand Strand Humane Society. Humans "paid" for their tickets by bringing an item from GSHS's wish list in exchange for a R.I.D.E.! Adoptable pets were also on hand and hopefully some of them found a furever home. (Myrtle Beach SkyWheel Facebook)

You're all caught up for Monday, February 7, 2022! I'll see you back in your inbox Tuesday with your next Myrtle Beach update.

Kathy Mandell

About me: The best decision I ever made was relocating to the Myrtle Beach area from New England a few years ago, with my three dogs and three cats. I enjoy dogs, cats, road trips, photography, writing, vegetarian food, live music, bicycling and above all my daily walks on the beaches in and around the Grand Strand.
