Here are the top six stories in Myrtle Beach today:

  1. It's game day! The Myrtle Beach Pelicans' first pitch for the 2023 season opener against the Charleston RiverDogs is set for 7:05 p.m. tonight! The players are ready, the staff is ready, hopefully the fans are ready and of course, the official bat dog Slider is ready to do his important job of retrieving bats! Hope to see you at the game! (WBTW)
  2. Celebrating its 15th anniversary this year Market Common was one of the first urban apartment districts in Myrtle Beach that allowed residents the ability to eat, play, shop and live in the same area without needing to drive anywhere. In 2022, eight new businesses were added to the district leaving the community 97% full. (wpde.com)
  3. Troy Bittner of Myrtle Beach, who has been accused of stealing nearly $1 million from a well-known RV resort, is back in jail as of Wednesday. According to WMBF, "U.S. Marshals said he violated his bond. He was given a $20,000 bond following his first arrest in September 2022, but under several conditions. According to federal documents, Bittner didn't abide by some of those conditions." (WMBF)
  4. House shopping online can be a somewhat inefficient process. While listing images can help, they're no stand-in for the real thing. That's why you should always take advantage of a local open house: No more bumbling around in the dark! To help those looking to buy a house in the Myrtle Beach area, we've listed four recently listed homes, with information included on the next scheduled open house. Here is an address, photo, price and bedroom/bath information for each property listed — such as a house in the Murrells Inlet area with 4 beds and 4 baths for $699,900, and another with 4 beds and 3 baths for $700,000. Click on any address for more pics and details. Enjoy!4 New Open Houses In And Around The Myrtle Beach Area To Check Out (Myrtle Beach Patch)
  5. Market Common traffic is to be impacted by road work for decorative crosswalks (WBTW)
  6. Horry County has been recognized as a 2022 'Fire Safe Community." (WMBF)
