Here are the top four stories today in Myrtle Beach:

  1. North Myrtle Beach Police are seeking information on a 32-year-old woman missing from her home in NMB since October 25. Latasha Marie Tawfiq was last seen leaving her home on that day. Tawfiq drives a gray 2019 Jeep Grand Cherokee with Pennsylvania license plates and a Pittsburgh Steelers tag on the front of the vehicle. Anyone with info should contact NMBPD at (843) 280-5511 or use the anonymous tip line (843) 447-9376. (WBTW) (North Myrtle Beach Police via Facebook)
  2. Cannabetter Farm has opened a second store in Horry County, this time in North Myrtle Beach inside the Gator Hole Plaza near WalMart and Home Depot. The store sells hemp, CBD and cannabis products such as syrups, gummies, candies, topical oil and pass-through vapes. The store offers discounts to veterans, nurses, first responders, teachers, massage therapists and people with chronic illnesses. A ribbon-cutting ceremony is happening December 14 at noon. A third location should be opening soon on the South Strand in Murrells Inlet. (Myhorrynews)
  3. An Horry County Schools teacher and a principal have both been arrested and placed on administrative leave from Ocean Bay Elementary School. Special ed teacher, Grace McColgan, was charged with unlawful conduct toward a child stemming from several incidents. Principal Rebecca Shroyer was charged with failing to report the incidents. Both educators have worked for Horry County Schools for several years. McColgan was granted $60,000 bond and Schroyer was granted a $10,000 bond. (wpde.com)
  4. The owner of Wild Water & Wheels has announced that the popular Surfside Beach water park will close permanently after more than three decades of operations. Park owner Mark Lazarus posted the news on the company's Facebook page. A day earlier, Surfside Beach residents had voiced concern at a planning commission meeting that the park was being rezoned to bring more housing to the area. The rezoning application shows a "mixed use of multifamily and commercial" properties, along with a provision for the park to continue operations. The water park will not reopen next season. About me: The best decision I ever made was relocating to the Myrtle Beach area from New England a few years ago, with my three dogs and three cats. I enjoy dogs, cats, road trips, photography, writing, vegetarian food, live music, bicycling and above all my daily walks on the beaches in and around the Grand Strand.
