Here are the top four stories today in Myrtle Beach:
- A man and woman from North Carolina were booked into Long Detention Center on Friday after being extradited from Greensboro, NC to Horry County. The pair are charged with three counts of attempted murder for an incident that occurred in Atlantic Beach on August 13. The man faces an additional charge of possession of a weapon during a violent crime. He is being held on $70,000 bond and the woman is being held on $60,000 bond. (WMBF)
- Patch's Real Estate News staff has taken the tediousness out of online house hunting by narrowing down the possibilities. We've done the work for you! If you're in the market for a new home, here are five new listings in The Preserve at Pine Lakes that may turn house hunters' heads. (Myrtle Beach Patch)
- It isn't happening any time near Halloween, but you can get tickets now for the Horry County Literacy Council's Murder Mystery Dinner. The event is happening Saturday, February 4, 2023 and this year's production is "Who Killed Broadway?" written and produced by twenty students in the Carolina Forest High School Drama Club. The council raises most of its money with the annual Murder Mystery Dinner performance. (Myhorrynews)
- Myrtle Beach State Park has announced that its fishing pier is reopened. Crews have been working hard to get the pier open during the past few weeks. The pier is open 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. through November. From December through February, the hours are 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. (WBTW)
Patch deal of the day:
Good knives make all the difference in the kitchen, but you don't need to overpay for them. Seido Japanese knives are made with strong high-carbon stainless steel (high-carbon knives are more durable and usually more expensive) and have an acute 15-degree angle for a noticeably sharper cutting face (most Western-style knives have edge angles of 25 degrees). For a limited time, Patch readers can get a 5-piece Seido Japanese master knife set for 71 percent off. At just under $70, this chef-quality set is perfect for any home cook and would also make a great gift for the holidays.

Today's photo is "Bob, our friend at the beach!" submitted by reader John Rinaldo. The birds around here certainly are friendly and entertaining most of the time. Thanks for sharing a photo of your feathered friend, John!
