Let's take a glance at today's weather:

Clear skies and cooler. High: 80 Low: 59.

Here are the top stories today in Myrtle Beach:

  1. Over half of Myrtle Beach area roads are in disrepair, says a report released this week by TRIP a transportation research non-profit. Traffic congestion is worsening all across South Carolina costing drivers big time. State roads in Myrtle Beach and around the state are in poor or structurally deficient shape. The SCDOT needs money to make the improvements, and will have to look for funding from various levels of government. (WMBF)
  2. A Loris man was charged with attempted murder in the September 4th shooting in Myrtle Beach that injured a 22-year-old man. That man had to have surgery on his arm because of the wounds. The shooter was identified by the victim who provided authorities with the gunman's initials and told police that the shooter had a gun. (WBTW)
  3. Surveillance video of the trooper-involved September 11th shooting in Horry County has been released to the public. The video was shown to the family of Tristan Vereen on September 16th. Faces and license plates were blurred, including the police cruiser and the car that Vereen was driving. (wpde.com)
  4. A section of a road in Carolina Forest is going to be named for a Myrtle Beach police officer who was killed in the line of duty. Officer Jacob Hancher died during a domestic violence call in October 2020. He was also a volunteer firefighter at Station 45 in Carolina Forest. A portion of River Oaks Drive will be named the Officer Jacob Hancher Memorial Highway. (MyHorryNews.com)
  5. News agencies don't know much more about the events leading up to the death of Florida woman, Sheridan Wahl, whose body was found 45 miles from Myrtle Beach where she was last heard from on Sunday afternoon. Investigators haven't released many details of what they have found. ABC15 News has created a timeline of what is known. Wahl's roommate has set up a GoFundMe page to help the family with final arrangements. (WPDE)

About me: The best decision I ever made was relocating to the Myrtle Beach area from New England a few years ago, with my three dogs and three cats. I enjoy dogs, cats, road trips, photography, writing, vegetarian food, live music, bicycling and above all my daily walks on the beaches in and around the Grand Strand.
