The average price per gallon in Horry County is $4.46, and in Georgetown County it's $4.56. AAA says demand is decreasing and the cost of oil has been falling. - MBPD has released additional information about the "disturbance" on 27th Avenue North in Myrtle Beach on Thursday. Officers received a domestic violence call and arrived to assist a woman who was trying to retrieve her belongings from an ex-boyfriend. They believed that the man was not at home, when in fact he was in the house at the time. Authorities say he was armed and was threatening to harm himself. The woman was evacuated through a second-floor window, and the man was taken into custody after several hours. Tactical teams used CS gas to stop him from going back into the dwelling. (wpde.com)
- Locals on both sides of this week's Supreme Court Roe v. Wade decision weighed in as Governor McMaster Tweeted about filing motions to make the Fetal Heartbeat Act effective in South Carolina. Carter Smith of Coastline Women's Center described it as "an exciting time" while Alester Linton-Pryor, chairman of the Horry County Democratic Party, described the ruling as a big setback for women's rights. - A two-alarm fire broke out Saturday afternoon in Surfside Beach near PirateLand Camping Resort. The first call happened around 1 p.m. and the second alarm quickly followed. Heavy smoke could be seen from several nearby beaches. Horry County Fire Rescue had the fire under control in a couple of hours. Two buildings and two vehicles were damaged and six housing units sustained heat damage. There were no injuries. (WBTW) (wpde.com)
- The South Carolina Election Commission has reported that more than 1,300 Republican runoff voters who were mailed absentee ballots were incorrectly issued Democratic runoff ballots. The service that printed and mailed the ballots sent out corrected ballots to those voters on Friday, with the hopes that they would be received as early as Saturday. Democratic runoff voters received the correct ballots. The error was limited to Horry County. (wpde.com)

- Myrtle Beach Police Department reminds us that, when visiting Myrtle Beach remember to pack your patience. (Myrtle Beach Police Department via Facebook)
- Are you and your dogs ready for fireworks season? More dogs go missing on July 4th than any other day of the year. Being prepared with calming activities, extra safety measures such as securely locked gates and doors, having ID tags and microchipping your pet are some of the ways you can help make sure you have the proper tools in place for a safer holiday. (American Kennel Club)
- A Murrells Inlet woman bought the same car, twice! Lola Chanonich and her husband, Barry, bought a 1969 Triumph Spitfire when it was brand-new, but sold it five years later. In 2003, after a ton of research, Lola tracked down the same car and bought it back as a surprise for Barry. Now, Lola is a widow — Barry died in 2020 — and she wants to sell the car to someone who will love it as much as they did. Details in the story here: (WMBF)

About me: The best decision I ever made was relocating to the Myrtle Beach area from New England a few years ago, with my three dogs and three cats. I enjoy dogs, cats, road trips, photography, writing, vegetarian food, live music, bicycling and above all my daily walks on the beaches in and around the Grand Strand.
