Here are the top stories in Myrtle Beach today:
- One person has died from a gunshot wound after being found in a parking lot on 28th Avenue North, according to police. The victim was brought to the hospital, and died later. Myrtle Beach Police are asking for information through an anonymous tip line (843) 918-1382. (WBTW)
- The Horry County Animal Care Center is offering free adoptions from now until September 19th. The animal shelter is participating in the nationwide Clear The Shelters event. - Gas prices in Myrtle Beach are getting lower, and some analysts blame a rise in COVID-19 cases as the reason. The average price in the Grand Strand area is $2.83 per gallon, down about 3.5 cents over the past week. Analysts say oil prices have plummeted as COVID cases increase, and summer driving is coming to an end. (WMBF)
- Conway Medical Center has announced it is reinstating visitation restrictions and screening of visitors due to the surge in COVID-19 cases. Visiting hours will be from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., and masks must be worn by anyone entering CMC buildings. Visitors under 16 years old are not permitted, except in end-of-life situations. - South Carolina's own Darius Rucker raised more than $2 million for St. Jude's Children's Hospital during the 12th annual Darius and Friends concert. Rucker started annual fundraising for St. Jude 15 years ago. Donations during this year's sold-out show surpassed previous efforts by around $400,000. (WFXB)

About me: The best decision I ever made was relocating to the Myrtle Beach area from New England a few years ago, with my three dogs and three cats. I enjoy dogs, cats, road trips, photography, writing, vegetarian food, live music, bicycling and above all my daily walks on the beaches in and around the Grand Strand.
