Here are the top stories in Myrtle Beach today:

  1. Police say a Myrtle Beach man fired a gun at a person who accused him of looking into vehicles on Saturday. The man was charged with attempted murder and possession of a weapon during a violent crime. The shooting took place near 9th Avenue South and Freedom Way. Police say that a person confronted the man after they allegedly saw him looking into vehicles in the area. He is being held on $125,000 bond for the two combined charges. (WBTW)
  2. A World War II veteran and a Vietnam veteran each received Quilts of Valor on Saturday during a ceremony in Little River honoring their service. Leo Garmusz, who will soon be 102 years old, served in WWII, and Fred Tinney served in Vietnam. Quilts of Honor was started in 2003 to provide a gesture of healing to soldiers who returned from war. 3. The Chanticleers remain unbeaten after they scored over my hometown team, UMass, 53-3 on Saturday at Brooks Stadium. The undefeated Coastal Carolina University team scored two touchdowns in the first half of Saturday's game, and now are 4-0 for the year. The Chants will take on Louisiana-Monroe next Saturday, October 2nd, at the stadium, kicking off at 2:30 p.m. The game will be broadcast on ESPN+. The team moved back to its previous position of 16th in the AP poll and now ranks higher than Clemson or University of SC, for the first time ever. (MyHorryNews.com) See also (WPDE)

The Moo & Brew Craft Beer, Burger and Music Festival took place at Burroughs-Chapin Pavilion Place on Saturday. The event featured a burger contest in which 12 restaurants participated, and a couple of hundred beers from all around the country. Country music's Mitchell Tenpenny was the headlining musical attraction. The Jebb Mac Band, Drew Green, and Shawn Bilton also performed to the big crowd in perfect fall weather. (WPDE)

About me: The best decision I ever made was relocating to the Myrtle Beach area from New England a few years ago, with my three dogs and three cats. I enjoy dogs, cats, road trips, photography, writing, vegetarian food, live music, bicycling and above all my daily walks on the beaches in and around the Grand Strand.
