Here are the top stories in Myrtle Beach today:

  1. It's Small Business Saturday, and the Myrtle Beach Area Chamber of Commerce is urging shoppers to support local businesses by shopping small today, and throughout the holiday season and beyond, for that matter. Shopping at small businesses boosts the entire community in many ways. Also, many local businesses are still trying to recover from last year's disappointments due to COVID-19 shutdowns and restrictions. Finally, you can enter yourself into a drawing for a holiday gift card from MBACC. Just take a photo of your receipts dated November 1 through December 17, 2021, totaling $150 or more, and send the pics in to MBACC for your chance to win! (WMBF)
  2. The talk of the town these days is next year's Carolina Country Music Fest, and yet another country star has announced he's joining the growing list of performers. Jon Pardi has added himself to the lineup. Pardi is best known for his song "Tequila Little Time." Get ready to Pardi and kill a little time with Jon and the rest of the countrified crew next June! (wpde.com)
  3. A man has been extradited from Florida to face charges in the killing of his mother, Amy Kopacz, who was found dead in Little River in her apartment on Little River Inn Lane about a month ago. Ms. Kopacz died of injuries sustained in an assault. Her adult son was a suspect, and was found in Florida, arrested, and charged with murder and grand larceny. He was brought back to Horry County and booked at Long Detention Center on Wednesday. (WMBF)
  4. The South Strand could be seeing even more growth near the already busting-at-the seams Burgess Community section of Murrells Inlet near St. James High School. The planned development could add thousands of homes and a giant commercial space on 700 acres in that area of town which borders Blackmoor Golf Club. The area does need to be approved for re-zoning before that can happen. A community meeting about the proposal will happen on December 8th where residents can express their views or ask questions. (Myhorrynews)
  5. The Myrtle Beach Police Department is investigating an armed robbery at a Circle K Convenience store at 1928 Mr. Joe White Avenue around 2 AM on Friday, November 26. A person entered the store, displayed a firearm, demanded money from an employee, and fled the scene with an undisclosed amount of money. Call MBPD anonymously at (843) 918-1382 if you have info, and use reference number 210-021721. (Facebook)

About me: The best decision I ever made was relocating to the Myrtle Beach area from New England a few years ago, with my three dogs and three cats. I enjoy dogs, cats, road trips, photography, writing, vegetarian food, live music, bicycling and above all my daily walks on the beaches in and around the Grand Strand.
