Soccer Player Screams, Is Sure She’ll Die On Carnival Ride: Video

MYRTLE BEACH, SC — Let’s get this out there: Many of us fell squarely — oops, unfortunate word choice — into the right-there-with-you-girl camp after watching a video of the Irish Women’s National Soccer team screaming bloody murder on a theme park ride in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.

Let’s be clear about this, too: The ride — the “Sling Shot” — wasn’t exactly billed as a souped up merry-go-round.

“The moment my soul left my body …” Connolly tweeted with the video, which sped around the internet like a turbo-charged ferris wheel.

Connolly’s friend, Dallas Dorosy, who plays soccer for Florida State University, is apparently one of these people who likes to have the life nearly scared out of her. She screamed a little, but laughed a whole lot more.

“Let’s go, Megan, let’s go,” Dorosy encouraged seconds before the ride bregan

Connolly was already “freaking out,” she said.

And then it happened. The Sling Shot vaulted them 300 feet into the air. Connolly screamed, screamed and screamed. Then she screamed some more.

“Calm down,” Dorosy said.

“I’m done, I’m done, I’m done,” Connolly responded. “I’m done. ... Make it stop. Oh my God, I’m gonna die.”

Dorosy burst into uncontrollable laughter. “It’s OK,” she finally managed, and patted her friend’s hand. “I can’t breathe,” she said later, and it was clear it wasn’t from fear.

The ride ended without incident. No one died. Connolly’s heart returned from her throat to her chest, where it belongs.
