Here are the top stories today in Myrtle Beach:

  1. A man was arrested for the stabbing that occurred near Coastal Grand Mall about a month ago. Bruce Randall Edwards was arrested and charged with attempted murder, kidnapping and possession of a weapon during a violent crime. Edwards was arrested two other times in August of this year on various different charges. In 2015, Edwards was arrested in the "church mob assault" case — an incident that occurred at Divine Deliverance Worship Center near Conway in which four suspects were arrested for disturbance of religious worship. (WBTW)
  2. 110 families are being given free Thanksgiving meals in Myrtle Beach thanks to a meal giveaway at Grand Strand Boys and Girls Club. The group organized the giveaway with the help of Coastal Carolina Realtor's Outreach team, and food donations from Captain Archie's. (wpde.com)
  3. There are some restaurants open and serving on Thanksgiving Day across Horry County. Landry's Seafood House, Joe's Crab Shack, and Paula Deen's Family Kitchen (all located at Broadway at the Beach) will all be open. The Brentwood Restaurant in Little River is accepting reservations. Captain George's, Golden Corral, Chesnut Hill, and Grand Strand Brewing Company are all serving in Myrtle Beach that day. On the South Strand, the Gulfstream Cafe in Garden City will be open. Reservations are required or recommended for all. Thanksgiving Day is November 25th. (MyHorryNews.com)
  4. The U.S. Department of Justice is giving direct funding to 183 law enforcement agencies around the country, and North Myrtle Beach is one city receiving funds under the aptly-named COPS Hiring Program. The city will get $750,000 in grant money from the DOJ over the next three years. That's enough money to hire and train six new full-time officers. (wpde.com)
  5. Tidelands Health celebrated administering 100,000 doses of the COVID-19 shot this week. The milestone was announced on Friday by chief operating officer, Gayle Resetar. Tidelands administers the Pfizer shots at its three regional inoculation sites in Georgetown County and Horry County. Resetar says it is "not letting up" in the effort to vaccinate the community. About me: The best decision I ever made was relocating to the Myrtle Beach area from New England a few years ago, with my three dogs and three cats. I enjoy dogs, cats, road trips, photography, writing, vegetarian food, live music, bicycling and above all my daily walks on the beaches in and around the Grand Strand.
