Partly sunny and nice. High: 78 Low: 58.
Here are the top stories today in Myrtle Beach:
- 17-year-old St. James High School student, Patrick Gallagher, gave his dad life-saving CPR, and is being seen as a hero. Gallagher and his father were playing video games recently when his dad (also named Patrick) had a sudden heart attack. The younger Patrick called 911 and performed CPR on his father until paramedics arrived. The elder Gallagher spent about a week in ICU after the incident. Doctors say the teen's quick action saved his dad's life. (WBTW)
- Horry County Coroner's office says a person whose death was being investigated near Socastee earlier this week died from causes other than homicide or suicide. The 24-year-old woman, whose identity has not been released, was a homeless person from Myrtle Beach. (MyHorryNews.com)
- Myrtle Beach leaders asked for, and received, input from residents on their new watershed master plan for the city. Project managers want to be certain to keep up with flooding issues and water quality, especially with so many new developments being constructed. (WMBF)
- Scary times: Myrtle Beach Halloween store sees shortage in costume supplies from big manufacturers. Shanna Coley owns Imaginations Costumes and Dance, and says customers are coming in looking for Halloween costumes and realizing the items are unavailable. The shortages are due to the shipping problems affecting the country on a larger scale. Also, manufacturers did not participate in trade shows due to ongoing COVID concerns. (WBTW)
- The Georgetown County Sheriff's Office has announced that they will be conducting checkpoints throughout the South Strand and Grand Strand to cut down on deadly crashes this coming holiday season. The department will work as a team with South Carolina Highway Patrol to cover various roadways on the South Strand. (WMBF)

About me: The best decision I ever made was relocating to the Myrtle Beach area from New England a few years ago, with my three dogs and three cats. I enjoy dogs, cats, road trips, photography, writing, vegetarian food, live music, bicycling and above all my daily walks on the beaches in and around the Grand Strand.
