Let's have a look at Monday's weather:

Sunny and breezy. High: 66 Low: 47.

Here are the top stories in Myrtle Beach today:

  1. King Tides continued to cause road flooding in low-lying areas on Sunday. One person was rescued by Horry County Fire Rescue on Shore Drive after their vehicle became submerged in floodwaters. The person was not injured, but Shore Drive was temporarily closed. The tides brought flooding to Garden City, and to Pawleys Island where causeways were temporarily closed both Saturday and Sunday waiting for waters to recede. (WPDE) (WBTW) (WMBF)
  2. The Georgetown County Sheriff's Office is asking anyone with information to contact them regarding a shooting Saturday night in Murrells Inlet. An unidentified male was shot in the back on Crepe Myrtle Court in Murrells Inlet. EMS and officers were called to the scene, and a person was arrested. The number to call with info is (843) 546-5101. (WPDE)
  3. Myrtle Beach police acted quickly to detain a suspect after gunshots were fired in the 1200 block of North Ocean Boulevard late Saturday night. There were no injuries, and officers nabbed the shooter at a nearby restaurant almost immediately after the shooting occurred. (WMBF)
  4. Retired Surfside Police K-9 officer, Viking, died over the weekend. The department did not provide much information in its Facebook post about the K-9 officer, except to say he was dedicated to keeping illegal drugs and criminals out of Surfside. (WBTW)
  5. Earlier in the season, the Coastal Carolina Chanticleers were undefeated and near the top of the heap in the AP Top 25 Poll for college football. The Chants have held onto their number 22 rank for two weeks now, and they won Saturday's game against Georgia Southern 28-8. CCU also comes in at number 21 on the USA Today Coaches Poll. The next game will be here at home, Saturday, where they'll take on Georgia State. Kickoff is at 2:00 p.m. (WMBF)

About me: The best decision I ever made was relocating to the Myrtle Beach area from New England a few years ago, with my three dogs and three cats. I enjoy dogs, cats, road trips, photography, writing, vegetarian food, live music, bicycling and above all my daily walks on the beaches in and around the Grand Strand.
