Here are the top four stories in Myrtle Beach today:
- The driver of a red pickup truck was having a medical emergency when the vehicle left Highway 17 north, drove through a retention pond and crashed into the bathroom of TBONZ Gil and Grill on Friday. The driver was taken to the hospital. No one else in or near the restaurant was injured. The restaurant may reopen today. (MyHorryNews.com) (WBTW)
- One person was taken to the hospital after a report of aggravated assault at the Community Kitchen in Myrtle Beach on Friday afternoon. A person was found with a stab wound and brought to the hospital from the kitchen that is located at the intersection of Mr. Joe White Avenue and Nance Street in Myrtle Beach. Anyone with info is asked to call MBPD at (843) 918-1382. (wpde.com) (WBTW)
- MD Roofing Company is donating 25 free roofs to the tiny homes community that is being built along 3rd Avenue North in Myrtle Beach. The $3 million project, Tiny Homes, Large Dreams, is providing homes for 25 veterans facing homelessness. The veterans should be moving in to their homes in November. (WMBF)
- Initial estimates for Hurricane Ian damages for the city of Myrtle Beach were released on Friday. The total damage amount is over $2.5 million and includes public and private properties, residential homes and commercial properties. Damages to city property include dune walkways, traffic signal machinery and sewer pump stations. City Council may waive permit fees for repairs related to the storm. That decision will come down on Tuesday during Council's next meeting. (WMBF) (WBTW) Meanwhile, the Myrtle Beach area is returning to normal after the storm. Oceanfront attractions, shops and events are in full swing, with beautiful weather to help encourage people to get out and about this weekend. (wpde.com)

Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Walk at Crown Reef Resort parking lot. Registration stars at 9 a.m. Bike the Beach bicycle ride begins at Burroughs & Chapin Pavilion with registration at 8 a.m.
- Little River resident, Rick Kaplan, came from a military family. That background inspired Kaplan to raise and train rescue dogs as service dogs for disabled veterans. - News from Brookgreen Gardens: Have you ever wondered about the famous holiday illumination spectacle, Nights of a Thousand Candles? The folks as CHS Today did a great job diving into the details for you. (CHStoday) While Brookgreen's volunteers work as quickly as possible to rebuild certain exhibits after the hurricane, the otters that live on the property are more than a little anxious to get back into their natural habitat. The otters' indoor and outdoor areas were both damaged by downed trees. (wpde.com)
- The Humane Society of North Myrtle Beach: "Who's ready to "woof down" some yummy food and drinks to fill your stomach and fill our animals' hearts! Join us Wednesday, October 12 at these participating restaurants. They will be donating a portion of the day's sales to our shelter!" (The Humane Society of North Myrtle Beach via Facebook)
Now you're in the loop and ready to start this Saturday! I'll see you tomorrow with the Sunday edition of the Myrtle Beach Daily.

About me: The best decision I ever made was relocating to the Myrtle Beach area from New England a few years ago, with my three dogs and three cats. I enjoy dogs, cats, road trips, photography, writing, vegetarian food, live music, bicycling and above all my daily walks on the beaches in and around the Grand Strand.
