Here are the top five stories today in Myrtle Beach:
- A Myrtle Beach veterinary assistant was arrested on Friday and charged with theft of controlled substances. McKenna Olivia Lineback is accused of stealing hydromorphone from VCA Palmetto Animal Hospital according to the arrest warrant. She was released on $2,500 bond on Saturday. (WBTW)
- Horry County Police have been investigating a death in Longs for the past few days. The county deputy coroner ruled that the death was a homicide on Monday. A body was found inside a home on Rose Circle in Longs late last week, later identified as 55-year-old Pamela Vereen. Officials say Vereen was assaulted in her home. (WMBF)
- Work has started on that tiny home neighborhood for veterans reported on a few weeks ago. The two-acre site near 3rd Avenue North will help "end veteran homelessness." The facility will be managed by Veterans Welcome Home and Resource Center of Little River. An anonymous donor gifted the property and the project to the organization. It is estimated that 25 tiny homes will be constructed. The homes are 160 square feet each, and include full bathrooms and kitchenettes. They will come with custom furniture and flat-screen TVs. - The North Myrtle Beach Master Swim Meet was held this past weekend, and hundreds of swimmers competed. One competitor is 91 years old, and this year was the first time a relay was included for swimmers 75 and up. The older swimmers are certainly an inspiration for the younger generation! (WMBF)

About me: The best decision I ever made was relocating to the Myrtle Beach area from New England a few years ago, with my three dogs and three cats. I enjoy dogs, cats, road trips, photography, writing, vegetarian food, live music, bicycling and above all my daily walks on the beaches in and around the Grand Strand.
