Here are the top stories today in Myrtle Beach:
- Myrtle Beach police were called to Bar Louie on Celebrity Circle around midnight Saturday night on reports of gunshots following a bar fight. The MBPD said there were no injuries, and they are asking for anyone with information to email them, call them at (843) 918-1382, or contact them on social media. (WMBF)
- Seven people were injured, some seriously, on Sunday afternoon after a two-vehicle crash near Lee Street and Highway 90 in Conway. One person was trapped in a vehicle. Roads were shut down for an extended time period. SC Highway Patrol is investigating. Rescue teams responded from both Horry County Fire Rescue and Conway Fire Department. (WPDE)
- Also on Sunday afternoon, a car overturned on Highway 57 in Little River, injuring one person. They were taken to the hospital, but there is no word on their condition as of the time of posting. A photo taken by Horry County Fire Rescue shows the vehicle overturned in a ditch on the side of the road. SC Highway Patrol is investigating this crash, too. (WMBF)
- As COVID-19 cases are on the decline in South Carolina, statewide, the Department of Motor Vehicles has resumed in-car driving tests. After a spike in COVID cases in August, the DMV has been observing drivers from outside the vehicle and scoring the tests that way. The Executive Director of the DMV, Kevin Shwedo, issued a statement saying that the time is right to return to normal road tests. (WMBF)
- Due to a shortage of alternative shopping bags, the City of North Myrtle Beach may continue to delay a proposed ban on single-use plastic bags that was supposed to go into effect at the beginning of this year. City council had approved the ban in 2019, but put everything on hold in May of 2020 because of the pandemic. Now, there may be another hold because supply chain problems are making it difficult to get alternative types of bags. The council is meeting Monday night, and it may delay the order into 2023. - Have you ever seen a buck with a full head of antlers swimming in the ocean? Well, some folks on Sunset Beach did! I also saw the same buck at same beach a week earlier, and snapped some photos of him as he walked across the boardwalk a few feet away from me! Let's assume he lives there. Who knew deer enjoy the ocean as much as we do?! (The News & Observer)

- Meanwhile, the Chanticleer football team did not rank in the major national polls for the first time all season, after losing Saturday's game against Georgia State. (WMBF)

About me: The best decision I ever made was relocating to the Myrtle Beach area from New England a few years ago, with my three dogs and three cats. I enjoy dogs, cats, road trips, photography, writing, vegetarian food, live music, bicycling and above all my daily walks on the beaches in and around the Grand Strand.
