1. S.C. State starts towing vehicles parked in unauthorized areas (wrdw.com) — South Carolina State University in Orangeburg is now towing vehicles parked in unauthorized campus areas, including those belonging to students with excessive tickets. Students must use only designated lots, display current decals, and clear vehicles from Game Day areas by midnight before home football games, or risk being towed.
2. Investigation continues a year after South Carolina State homecoming shooting killed teenage girl (wbtv.com) — Investigators are still searching for whoever killed 19-year-old Jaliyah Butler during South Carolina State University's 2025 homecoming in Orangeburg County, and no one has yet been charged in her death. State agents say they've arrested multiple people for having guns on campus and are urging anyone with information to contact SLED or the FBI, with a $10,000 reward still available.
3. SC State falls in heartbreaking 34-31 battle to The Citadel (wistv.com) — South Carolina State's home crowd in Orangeburg watched the Bulldogs erase a 14-point deficit against The Citadel before losing 34–31 on a last-second field goal. Strong performances from quarterback Keely Watson and running back Mason Pickett-Hicks weren't enough, as SC State's defense couldn't stop an 85-yard final drive in front of more than 11,000 fans.
4. HCS wins SC Reads grant to boost first-grade literacy across 5 districts (wpde.com) — First-graders in Orangeburg will benefit from a new statewide literacy initiative led by Horry County Schools, which just won a major South Carolina Reads Everywhere grant.
