Amendments to Sign Ordinance Pass
Summerville Town Council unanimously approves sign ordinance amendments that will keep the town clutter-free.

In a quick vote last Wednesday, Town Council unanimously approved the final reading to amend its sign ordinance.
According to discussion by council members in the past, the new ordinance with its amendments should keep the town free of clutter but not negatively impact businesses.

Since passing a sign ordinance last year, . So town staff has relaxed some rules regarding signs by permitting some signs for set periods of time.
Under the new language, sandwich signs are allowed, but only one and it must be on the property of the business. Banners will also be allowed, but only four times a year at 30-day intervals. Putting up a banner will require a permit.
