Assault at Palmetto Summerville Reported

A patient alleges he was assaulted by another patient at the juvenile mental health facility Palmetto Summerville Behavioral Health.

Summerville Police responded to Summerville Medical Center Jan. 5 in response to an alleged assault on a patient at Palmetto Summerville Behavioral Health. 

The 17-year-old patient alleged that a 15-year-old patient attacked him in his room, striking him until he blacked out. The alleged victim stated when he regained consciousness, his alleged attacker had placed him in a "Guillotine" choke until staff members separated the two. 

According to the Summerville Police incident report, the 17-year-old said the boy who attacked him had done so in the past.

Police reported bruising on the older boy's face, but saw no apparent injuries on the younger boy. According to the report, staff said the boys were "feuding for quite some time." 

The 15-year-old was charged with assault third degree.
