Bachmann Wins LowCountry 9.12 Straw Poll
Rep. Michele Bachmann and former Sen. Rick Santorum lead informal poll taken Tuesday.

Attendees of a Tuesday LowCountry 9.12 meeting selected Rep. Michele Bachmann as their top GOP candidate.
Bachmann was followed closely by former Sen. Rick Santorum.
The straw poll was taken by about 40 people, who were asked to select their first and second choice as president. LowCountry 9.12 is a conservative group that focuses on social and fiscal values in the Charleston area. It is affiliated with the 9-12 movement founded by former Fox News host Glenn Beck.

If a candidate got a first choice vote, he or she received two points. If a candidate got a second choice vote, he or she received one point. Adding those points together, Bachmann got 29 points, Santorum got 25 points, Rep. Ron Paul got 24 points, former Speaker Newt Gingrich got 23 points, former Gov. Mitt Romney got 18 points, Gov. Rick Perry got 11 points and former Gov. Jon Huntsman got four points.
However among just first choice candidates, it was a three-way tie between Gingrich, Bachmann and Paul. Santorum received the most second choice votes.
