Blaze Hits Johnson Used Auto Parts (Update)

Firefighters respond to late Thursday fire; details pending.

C & B Volunteer Fire Department responded to a Thursday night blaze at on Highway 78. 

According to the department spokesperson, details are sparse at the moment but should be forthcoming. 

The fire is being investigated as intentional, and the business has had several fires before, she said. No other departments responded to the fire, which was located outside of a main building, according to the spokeswoman.

The Post and Courier reported parts of Highway 78 were shut down Thursday evening and that firefighters worked the blaze for three hours.  

Charleston County Sheriff Public Information Officer Maj. Jim Brady reported via email: that the blaze was at the front of the building.

"The blaze, which melted the structure siding, was extinguished before it spread to the rest of the building. Estimated damage approximately $5,000," Brady said, adding that investigators were still trying to determine the cause.
