Boxes and Boxes ... and Things

Ah! The joy of moving with some interesting twists.

Hello, again, gentle reader. I'm back — really!

Let me tell you what has been going on in our lives. It includes my spouse Lisa, and our two four-footed babies Lady Suzanne and Megan Marie.

Once upon a time, actually it was a weekday in the merry month of June when there was a knock on our front door. We were greated by a nice lady, who said she was a realtor.

After exchanging greetings, she informed us that our rented home had been foreclosed on and she was also acting as agent for the bank. Boy, when she left we were in a panic, at least I was, as to what to do. Lisa was talking about living on the street.

We still had two years left on our lease. So for the next few days we checked out the state rules and regulations. After reading what our rights were this lovely realtor — and she was very nice and helpful — asked if she could show us some houses for rent. well you know how that goes. We looked at God knows, because I didn't keep count, how many houses we look at. Oh, by the way I called the Realtor we had delt with since we moved to Summerville and guess what? They didn't know a thing about the foreclosure. Surprise! They checked and verified it.

Digging into it a bit we found out that  the woman, a doctor, in California, hadn't been paying her mortgage for many a-month. Figures, huh? while all this is going on I recieved a phone call from the national office of the Alzheimer's Association to let me know that I had been elected to the National Board of Advisors of the Association. In all the "stuff" going on I had forgot that I had been called and norminated. That was before all this house thing. I was to be one of ten members and the first in SC to be on the board. Great Huh?

It gets better. I found out that the first board meeting was in the end of July about a week away, for three days in Chicago. They wanted me to get there a day early so I could do some video and stills for their national advertising. Of course I said yes and then as all you know what broke lose.

By this time, our original Realtor had found us a cute house in an older subdivision (80s) with two more rooms and the same price. See, I told you, God is good all the time! But He sure can pull your chain and test your faith.

As you can guess by now, we had been packing boxes and boxes and boxes. Tons of fun. We did get rid of some, maybe a lot of "stuff" we had moved a number of times even fromsome from Rochester.

The time came and we had to stop and fly to Chicago.  If any of you, gentle readers, have flown. you know how that goes. Yep, a good old thunder boomer rolled thru Charleston and our plane was diverted to Greenville. So we spent 4+ hours in the airport before our plane finally arrived changed crews, and away we go. Had to reschedule our shuttle to the hotel. Finally everything worked out and we even got peanuts on the flight. We flew Southwest. Great Airline — a bit nutty, but you can't expect steak these days.

Had a great board meeting and found out what was what for my term. You know speaking engagements etc., and as you know I can't even spell if you read my blogs (Patch editor Lindsay Street cleans them up the best she can). Lisa had a caregiver's meeting ... sort of a mutt and jeff show so to speak.

On the third day we got back to the airport flew back to Charleston amost didn't because of a major, yep, thunderstorm had shut every thing down. We found out we were one of the first planes to be cleared for landing. It was kind of fun flying above a thunder and lighting storm. Different perspective.

Back to the house we finished packing and the movers came and away everything went boxes and boxes and totes too.

Now we are in our new digs. The girls love it because the neighbors have a great garden with birds and butterflies. Only problem now is we got boxes and boxes of stuff and we are playing "Seek and You shall Find". I saying that on faith ya know.  Did I tell you about my lower dentures? Maybe I'll save it for another day.

By the way if you find any wrong spelling, blame it on Mr. Alzheimer. He was a real guy.

See ya later, got to remember that thing I was going to do...maybe I save it for another day.
