Can ducks read?

I love wildlife and nature photography. Today the wildlife just showed up in my neighborhood. Four young Mallard ducks seemed rather lost, trying to bathe in a very small puddle in the driveway. I didn't expect them to stay very long, but they seemed very comfortable. Perhaps they can read the welcome sign.
