MOMIX - Botanica!

MOMIX - Botanica, at the Gaillard Auditorium in downtown Charleston!

What an incredible experience!  Botanica, presented by the Charleston Concert Association at the Gaillard Auditorium in downtown Charleston was an absolute wonder created by the MOMIX dance company!  Lucky for us, my wife and I were in the front row, center stage, and that put us in a position to see every minute detail of each dance down to the ripples in the dancer’s muscles.  What else can I say other than; “Botanica, it is an extraordinary experience!”

Throughout the show the dancers created images of plants, animals, people and shapes that transform and float in midair, defy gravity, time and space.  Make no mistake about it, this is dance inspired by nature that is brought to life through the astonishing physicality of the dancers coupled with a marvelous skill in the use of illusion.  This is a must see show for all ages.

Having just opened the theatre season, we are in for a great many treats over the next few months.  The Gaillard Municipal Auditorium is a multi-purpose facility that hosts a variety of events, such as Broadway productions, concerts, opera, ballet, plays comedians, sports, fashion shows, dance recitals, children's shows & fairs; garden and wildlife expos, trade and vendor shows, and conferences, among other things.  I for one am looking forward to attending a performance by the Charleston Symphony Orchestra next month!  That promises to be another fantastic opportunity to witness another extraordinary event that our community has to offer!
