Put the Large Rocks in FIRST!

Do you want to live a longer and healthier life? You can, but you have to order your life around what your goals are and what matters to you.

Habits of Health tip for this week coming up…

This week I give you permission to be you. To become the you that you really want to be. You CAN get to your goal weight, whether it's 100 or 10 lbs away. You can achieve what you want.

There is the story of the college professor who put large rocks in a container and then asked her class if the container was full.
Yes, answered the class.
She then proceeded to pour smaller rocks into the container. She asked, "Is it full now?"
...No..., the class responded hesitantly.
She then poured water in the container until it overflowed. "How about now?", asked the professor.
Yes, answered the class.

The point of the exercise is NOT that you can always fit something else in. The point of the story is that if the large rocks were not put in first, then they would never fit in.

What are the big rocks in your life? Do you want to live a longer, healthier life? You can, but you have to put the big rocks in first.

The key is focusing on what you want out of life and then ordering your life around what matters.

Here are some more steps I hope serve you this week!

  1. Don’t focus on the scale and start focusing on healthy behavior and lifestyle.
  2. Let go of the “I wish I were thinner” comments and work to make you the best you can be. No comparing allowed!
  3. Take advantage of the support from wherever you can (health coach, online daily tips and tools, weekly conference calls).
  4. Write down your goals for where you want to be in 3 months, 6 months, and 1 year. Keep a daily journal.

You can do it!
This will work.
I will help you.
