The 'Planning to Fail' Diet System

Dieting only works as long as someone is on one. The yo-yo/fad diets only succeed in resetting the metabolic rate lower than before. The key to success is changing your habits.

Mark Twain once said, "It's easy to quit smoking. I've done it hundreds of times.” The same is true of Junk food and sodas! But stop and think for moment - How many times have you heard that "dieting" doesn't work? I know that such thinking was a big part of my story as I struggled to lose weight. The truth is dieting does work (before it doesn't.) Americans are very good at losing weight - our problem is that we quickly put it back on! Eventually, I realized that I was only be setting myself up for failure if I tried to diet!

We see in every checkout lane at the grocery store that some new celebrity has lost 10 pounds on whatever the new fad diet is. But here is the back story, found in Dr. A's Habits of Health by Dr. Wayne Andersen:

"The fad diet involves lowering calorie intake and manipulating the balance of protein, fat, and carbohydrates. This is what brought us Low Fat, Low Carb, & High Protein diets. All of these diets give us an abnormal ratio of these nutrients."

When you get the wrong balance of nutrients, your body will develop cravings. The likelihood of maintaining you new weight is based on your ability to perpetually battle these cravings. You have put yourself under a siege - which you will eventually lose. Your weight loss was built on the shifting sands of a fad - not on the rock of healthy eating habits.

Here's more from Dr. A:

If you even make it through this first phase of the diet, you have … lowered your metabolic rate. By lowering the wrong nutrients in your food [and] you have lost muscle. Now your body's metabolic rate, its furnace, has been reset at a lower level than it was when you began your diet!

In other words, you are almost predestined to gain back the weight you lost - if not more. Why? Because your body will want to rebuild the lost muscle (and muscle weighs more than fat) and your 'furnace' is less efficient, which means you burn less calories.

Sound familiar? Have you ever gone through a grueling diet, proudly lost a bunch of weight, but then piled it back on and more? You are not alone. We have all been there. The reality is there are no quick fixes - you cannot change your weight without changing your lifestyle.

The habit changing system lies in stark contrast to the yo-yo fad diets. Why? Because it is about permanently changing your eating habits for the better. By eating low calories foods six times every day, and eating the right balance of protein, carbohydrates, & fats, you maintain your muscle density and keep your metabolism running at a high level. The habit changing system enables you to end a season of dieting - by going through a proper transition to "normal" eating — with a much greater chance for long term success.

This system is about building your house on rock rather than on sand. It may take more time and effort, but it will be worth it.

Have a fantastic day!
