Voters Encouraged to Update Their Registration Information
Help alleviate Election Day delays...update your voter registration information!

Every Election Day we receive numerous calls from voters who have moved to a new address or who are confused about which voting precinct or district they live in. In an effort to reduce the number of these calls on Election Day, The Dorchester County Registration & Elections Commission strongly encourages all registered voters who have moved, changed their address, or changed their name to update their information on file with our office as soon as possible.
Due to demographic changes and growth in number of registered voters, the SC State Legislature passed new lines for all Senate and House of Representative districts. The Dorchester County Council district lines have also changed. Therefore, it is very important to verify your voting information. Without checking this, many voters may be confused as to why they don't see a particular candidate on their ballot in November.
To ensure all voters go to the correct polling location, it is imperative we have everyone’s correct address. All address changes must be submitted in writing with the voter’s signature, we cannot take the changes via a phone call. There are several ways voters can update their information:

- Voters can complete the change of address portion of the back of their current registration card (assuming they have not changed counties) and mail this to our office (201 Johnston Street, St. George, SC 29477), or
- Voters can download an application on our website DorchesterVotes.org by going to this link: Register to Vote or Update Your Information. The voter then needs to complete the form and send it to our office. The form can be faxed (843-832-0186), emailed (vote@dorchestercounty.net), or mailed to our office (201 Johnston Street, St. George, SC 29477), or
- By calling 843-832-0132 or 843-563-0132 and requesting that we mail a new voter registration application to the voter, or
- Appearing in-person at our office and completing a new voter registration application.
