Why I endorse Ray Nash

Ray Nash received the endorsement of the RLC on Friday, March 8th. This is my personal explanation of why I voted to recommend his endorsement.

This special election has been somewhat of an anomaly thus far: there are sixteen GOP candidates in the primary, and there are several that I think would represent the principles of liberty quite well in office. My personal list includes: Mark Sanford, John Kuhn, Jeff King, Keith Blandford, and Ray Nash. This is very unusual in South Carolina politics, but then this race has been very unusual all along. The Sixteen GOP candidates in this race have set a new record for the most ever at one time in a run for a congressional seat in our state.

In a race like this it is very tough to decide who to support, as many of them hold the same underlying philosophy of liberty. Usually you can only find one candidate with a solid foundation, if you’re lucky. But in this instance we have to look for who has built upon that foundation to become the best representative possible, and who will be solid as  a rock in the face of opposition in Washington, D.C. from both the Democrats and the GOP leadership.

There is no question in my mind that Ray Nash is that rock. He has demonstrated an impressive knowledge of the Constitution and a commitment to conservative principles that has earned the respect of many activist groups in the first district, including 9/12, Tea Party Patriots, FreedomWorks, and the RLC Lowcountry Chapter. He is a straight shooter and he gives his well-informed position on any issue with the Constitution as its root, no matter who the audience is. Nash has garnered support from across the spectrum of conservative activists and has great potential to unite us in the fight against big government. Finally, he has run a positive campaign from the start and it is clear to see that he commands respect, no matter the audience, because of his devotion to the founding principles of this nation.

I sincerely hope that this trend of having many solid liberty candidates to choose from continues, and I wish I could vote to send a half-dozen people to Congress, but since I can only choose one this time around, I choose to send a sheriff, and I endorse Ray Nash.
