Busted: Family Feud Turns into Attempted Murder

A Summerville man has been charged with attempted murder following a New Year's Eve incident where he allegedly stabbed his cousin's husband. 

William Freeman, 46, of Summerville is out on a $25,000 surety bond after the incident that resulted in Carl Holmes, 40, being transported to MUSC for "life saving" treatment, according to the incident report.

According to Summerville Police, they arrived on scene and found Holmes lying on the ground, "bleeding profusely." Freeman allegedly told police he was the one to stab the victim. 

Freeman also suffered swelling of his face and a knife wound to his leg from an apparent scuffle. 

According to the incident report, Holmes came over to Freeman's house and their children were playing a football game. Freeman told officers that Holmes got rough with the children during the game and started tackling them. Freeman told officers that when his children were injured, he yelled at Holmes, according to the report. 

An argument ensued and Freeman said Holmes threw the first punch, according to the report. Holmes told police, "That's when I pulled my knife and stabbed him." 

Freeman's appearance date is schedule March 8 in Summerville Municipal Court.

• Quentin Terrell McPherson, 29, of Charleston was arrested for possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia Dec. 24 on East 5th North Street.
• Stephanie Ann Wood, 31, of Summerville was arrested for shoplifting and contributing to the delinquency of a minor Dec. 26 at Wal-Mart. 
• Brandon Rober Allain, 21, of Clemson was arrested for driving under the influence Dec. 28 on Sumter Avenue.
• David Phillip Moultrie, 27, of Summerville was arrested for driving under suspension and Non-Resident Violator Compact Dec. 28 on Bacons Bridge Road.
• Connie Renee Pinckney, 43, of Round O was arrested for failure to appear Dec. 28.
• Crystal Lynn Vasko, 44, of Summerville was arrested for driving under the influence Dec. 28 on Bacons Bridge Road. 
• Shawn M. Quirk, 43, of Summerville was arrested for driving under the influence Dec. 29 on Midland Parkway.
• Frank Anthony Ranly II, 34, of Summerville was arrested for failure to appear Dec. 29.
