Child Beaten at Oakbrook Middle School

A 13-year-old boy was arrested and suspended after allegedly assaulting another boy in a classroom at Oakbrook Middle School Aug. 23.

The suspect, who was not named by police, has a pending assault-and-battery charge, according to the Summerville Police report.

According to the incident report, the responding Summerville Police officer arrived at 11:45 a.m. after a substitute teacher had called the police after one boy allegedly walked up to other and started hitting him in the face. Statements also allege that the suspect banged the victim's head against a file cabinet several times. 

The suspect was separated from the victim by the teacher, who also said the two were at odds for weeks. 

According to the report, the victim was bleeding from his mouth and had scratches on his cheeks, chin and neck. 

The suspect was released to his mother via Custodial Promise Form.
