Child Charged After School Bus Fight

Dorchester Two bus assault leads to charges.

A child has been charged with third-degree assault and interfering with a school bus operation after an alleged fight on Sept. 28 near the intersection of Highway 78 and Pete Ewers Drive. 

According to the incident report, the victim was struck in excess of 14 times, but he was able to "deflect most of the punches by using his arms to shield himself." The only injury reported was a knot in the back of the head. 

The incident was caught on surveillance tape, and William Reeves Elementary Assistant Principal Dan Farmer reported the incident to the Dorchester County school resource officer the following day.

According to the report, the subject and victim were in a verbal argument on the bus, when the subject allegedly began punching the victim, causing a "major disruption" on the bus.
