Christian Conservative Group Endorses Santorum

Meeting in Texas, 150 Christian conservatives endorse the GOP presidential hopeful.

MOUNT PLEASANT — With a positive editorial from a conservative columnist and the endorsement of a Christian conservative gathering in Texas, Former Pennsylvania Sen. Rick Santorum was quick to grab a new slogan for his campaign: He's not just the last man standing, but a man conservative enough to stand behind. 

It's a play on what columnist Charles Krauthammer wrote about the candidate.

Meeting with volunteers in volunteers in his state headquarters on Johnnie Dodds Boulevard, Santorum reacted to the news of conservative leaders' endorsement and announced some news of his own: state Sen. Chip Campsen, who represents parts of Charleston and Berkeley counties, had endorsed him.

"People are now taking a serious job of looking at all the candidates," Santorum said. Santorum came to meet with volunteers fresh off . 

Santorum called the endorsements "encouraging" but added the campaign still had a lot of work to do. He touted his efforts of having the most campaign stops in the state, and vowed to have more stops than any other candidate leading up to next Saturday.

Santorum said he has not asked any of the other candidates to begin to bow out of the race so he can have more support going up against Romney.
