Civic Center Study Secures Funding
Arts Business Civic Coalition can proceed with feasibility study now that it has funds from Dorchester County.

Dorchester County council reaffirmed its $4,999 commitment toward a civic center feasibility study Monday during its regular meeting in St. George.
The vote was unanimous.
The county is one of three government entities supplying $15,000 toward a $25,000 feasibility study. The Arts Business Civic Coalition, which is heading the effort, will shoulder the remainder $10,000.

for the feasibility study Aug. 8. And according to organizers, Dorchester County School District Two also reaffirmed its $5,000 commitment.
The entities had already agreed to commit the money toward a study earlier this year, but coalition Executive Director Cyndy Jackson asked them to reaffirm the funds after a planned grant fell through.

The $25,000 feasibility study "tells us whether or not the town can support a civic center, where it should be located and what programs would get this self-sustaining," Jackson said earlier this month.
