Council to Address Traffic on Boonehill
Summerville Councilman Walter Bailey suggests light at Golf Road, between Luden and five-points, to break-up heavy traffic.
Wednesday's last agenda item for town council's regular meeting was talking intersection improvements for Tea Farm Road, off Boonehill Road.
Council unanimously agreed to address traffic issues along a 1.4-mile stretch from Luden Drive to five-points.
Intersection improvements at Tea Farm Road were studied by the state, according to town staff. However, improvements were not warranted. Since 2007, seven accidents have occurred near the Tea Farm Road-Boonehill Road intersection due to its issues, staff said.

Councilman Walter Bailey, who lives near Tea Farm Road, talked about the issue Wednesday evening.
"It isn't just a problem with that particular intersection," Bailey said "(During high traffic times), nobody in roughly a mile-and-half stretch of 17-A (Boonehill Road) that lives there can get out … Something needs to stop that traffic momentarily to allow people an opportunity to get out of their driveways."

The issue will be on the agenda for the October regular meeting. In the meantime, the town will contact residents in the area for input, according to the motion.
