Councilman Hearn Announces Reelection Campaign

Dorchester County Councilman Bill Hearn seeks to continue to represent District 6.

County Councilman Bill Hearn announced Monday his intent to seek reelection to Dorchester County Council. The first-term Republican has represented District 6 since 2008.

District 6 includes , Knightsville and the Sheriff's Office. 

"The issues facing Dorchester County continue to be vital and important to our future. We've made great strides over the past year, but our job isn't done — and I want to be a part in continuing to shape our future and present. We need to continue to encourage job growth, improve our community with new infrastructure and make sure we’re creating a great place to call home," Hearn said in a statement.

The campaign released the following list of accomplishments:

  • Voting against Dorchester County Council's pay raise they gave themselves and still not personally taking the pay raise.
  • Voting against and to eliminate fees that stifle small business development and job creation.
  • Improving transportation network by helping secure share of federal funds to improve Highway 78 and Dorchester Road.

Filing for the office opens March 16 with the Republican primary election set for June 12.
