County Council Meets in St. George

County council meets 7 p.m. today at its chambers in St. George.

Items on the agenda include:

• Resolution supporting the expansion of Summerville Medical Center, which has ;

• Resolution supporting ;

• Funding revision for the Arts Business Civic Coalition, which ;

• Public hearing for 2011 Justice Assistance Grant Award;

• Public hearing and final reading for a general obligation bond for purchasing Pine Trace property; and

• Approval of a sex offender registry position and an additional school resource officer;

The executive session also offers a full plate for council, which will discuss fireworks, the jail project and a personnel matter.

According to county administrator Jason Ward, the personnel matter is not related to the vacant emergency management director position. Ward said the hiring for that position has been delayed due to a family emergency with one of the candidates.
