CPW: Avoid Contact with Water Near Oakbrook
Runoff from Summerville sewer spill entered Chandler Bridge Creek and possibly portions of the Ashley River.

Friday afternoon's sanitary sewer overflow has now entered Chandler Bridge Creek near the Bridges of Summerville.
Summerville Commissioners of Public Works is reporting that Chandler Bridge Creek, Eagle Creek and possibly portions of the Ashley River will be affected by this spill. Public works advises avoiding any contact with the water in these areas for the next few days.
The sewer overflow happened at 145 Burton Ave. in the Oakbrook area of town. There was a high volume of overflow released from a broken force main south of the bridge on Burton Avenue, according to public works.

S.C. Department of Health and Environmental Control and S.C. Department of Natural Resources have been notified of the spill.
