Dorchester County Recognizes Family Literacy Week
Resolution in honor of International Literacy Month adopted by Dorchester County Council Monday.
County Council began Monday's regular meeting at its with adoption of a resolution honoring International Literacy Month, and National Adult Education and Family Literacy Week.
According to the proclamation, more than 10,000 adults in Dorchester County have not graduated high school. Of that sum, more than 3,000 have less than a ninth-grade education.
The proclamation recognized Trident Literacy Association, which is trying to re-open a location in Dorchester County to increase literacy and GED preparation.

September in International Literacy Month and the week of Sept. 12-18 is National Adult Education and Family Literacy Week.
