Dorchester Two Athletes Signed for Colleges

Twenty-one student athletes from the Summerville area will make the leap from high school sports to college sports after graduation. 

Wednesday was Signing Day, where future college athletes commit to their futures. 

The following Ashley Ridge athletes committed:

• Brandon Hughes (football, linebacker) signed with Newberry
• Dalton Robinson (football, kicker) signed with Newberry
• Seamus McKinney (football, wide receiver) signed with St. Norbert
• Austin Livingston (baseball) signed with The Citadel
• Lorenzo Wright (baseball) signed with College of Charleston
• Nick Bell (baseball) signed with Coastal Carolina
• Cuyler McAuliffe (baseball) signed with North Greenville
• Bryan Dye (baseball) signed with College of Charleston
• Patrick Mace (baseball) signed with Spartanburg Methodist
• Paige Deschaine (softball) signed with Augusta State
• Becca Paonita (softball) signed with University of South Carolina-Sumter
• Vance White (track) signed with University of South Carolina-Beaufort

The following Fort Dorchester athletes committed:

• Connor Bauknight (soccer, midfielder) signed with Wofford
• Robert Coleman (football, offensive line) signed with Jacksonville State University
• Wesley Eads (soccer, forward) signed with University of South Carolina
• Devron Glenn (football, wide receiver) signed with Presbyterian
• Devin L'amoreaux (soccer, center midfielder) signed with University of South Carolina
• Ethan Long (football, quarterback) signed with East Carolina University

• Rachel Nobbs (soccer, midfielder/sweeper) signed with Lees-McRae College
• Chris Rause (football, wide receiver) signed with Newberry 
• Taylor Simmons (soccer, defense/midfielder) signed with University of South Carolina-Aiken 

Ashley Ridge athlete McKinney said he's known for a long while to which college he would sign, and playing football in college was in his aspirations. Now, he's got to prepare with weight-lifting and training to get ready for the next level. 

Fort Dorchester football Coach Steve LaPrad said his school's athletic program has been consistently turning out college signers. 

"We work hard with our kids," he told Patch. 

Summerville High did not have any students sign Wednesday — an infrequent occurance for the school that produced NFL names like A.J. Green, Dustin Fry and Jamar Nesbit.
