Dorchester Two, State Fall in SAT Scores
Fewer Dorchester Two seniors take the college entrance exam.

In accordance with schools across the state and nation, Dorchester County School District Two school's SAT scores fell in 2011.Â
The number of seniors taking the exam also fell in the district.
While South Carolina students improved their performance on college-level Advanced Placement course exams, the state’s SAT scores declined according to statistics released by the College Board.

The average composite score of all South Carolina graduating seniors taking the SAT was 1436, down seven points. All Dorchester Two schools report a higher average than the state average. (See numbers below.)

The national average dropped six points to an average score of 1500. If computed using the method in place prior to 2005, South Carolina’s composite score would be 972 while the national score would be 1011.
From the public school sector, seniors graduating in South Carolina scored a composite of 1427, down 12 points from 2010. If computed using the method in place prior to 2005, South Carolina’s composite score would be 968 while it would be 1000 nationally. Â
By the Numbers
Ashley Ridge:
- 53 percent of seniors took the test in 2011.
- The 2011 mean composite score was 1489.
- Data from the previous year was not used to compare with 2011 because only two seniors took the test in 2010.
Fort Dorchester:Â
- 59 percent of seniors took the test in 2011. There were 15 fewer test-takers this year.
- The 2011 mean composite score was 1444, a drop of 23 points from the 2010 score of 1467.Â
- Lower scores occurred in all testing categories.Â
Summerville:
- 61 percent of seniors took the test in 2011. There were 34 fewer test-takers this year.
- The 2011 mean composite score was 1439, a drop of 26 points from the 2010 score of 1464.Â
